Well i thought i would have to start one of these eventually, so here goes nothing,
Another game package i had to learn in a hurry was the Unreal 3, engine , talk about thrown in at the deep end, so i had to design a prison level using Unreal 3 and we had 5 categories to choose:
ancient Europe
wild west
world war 2
modern day
the distant future.
S0 i decide to go with the wild west for some known reason i thought that the research would be a lot easier as there are loads of western films to watch (yawn yawn)
yep really interesting films not really my type of films more like my dads but research had to be done so i persevered , what i didn't realize was that if i went with the modern day/ distant future/ alot of the meshes and textures are already in Unreal 3 , but hey i always seem to take the harder option.
So here you have it my level:

the idea of designing a full western town in the short amount of time we had to complete this module before the dreaded hand in date , was not a viable one especially having to model and texture everything, so i went with a full prison as the playable area and then surround this with terrain in the editor.

and i think it works, and adding the waterfall and the slow moving lake texture , just adds to it and brings it altogether, all the models and most of the textures are all mine so I'm pretty chuffed with how it turned out.
Assets/models all created in 3ds max :

just a simple model really but looks the part i think, i especially like how the wheels turned out

and these are stocks in the underground part of the level , part of the module was to make sure we had torture devices so i went with this......

oh and i modeled the wife ?( ha ha ) i,m a dead man if she ever gets to read this

and what western is complete without gallows and the good old windmill

and that box at the back was supposed to be a bamboo type cage, that transported the player to the underground part of the prison.
